Correct gapped, chipped, and otherwise “imperfect” teeth in Napier with stunning, solid dental veneers

As you may intimately know from a weekend DIY project or the last upgrades on your house, laminates are layers or coatings of protective materials. They may be used to spruce up a countertop or protect the beauty of stunning wood floors. It’s beneficial to think of dental veneers in much the same way; we at Dentiq in Napier design “laminates” for your teeth from high-quality porcelain that replicates healthy natural enamel. Due to our onsite lab capabilities, Dr. Sundar is able to fabricate those layers of durable and lifelike porcelain from our office in Greenmeadows. The veneers are made while you wait, in a single visit, and can be refined or adjusted quickly without the need for any adjustment appointment.

Once your veneers are ready to go, just like other types of laminates, the porcelain layer is precisely placed on the front surface of the teeth and bonded securely. Due to our quality bonding agents and techniques, a veneered tooth is stronger than ever. In addition to top-notch durability, you can enjoy the natural and attractive appearance of your veneers for years to come, because they are stain resistant. As great as all of this may sound, there is no single type of treatment that is universally appropriate for all patients.

Here, we have provided a few considerations which we’re happy to discuss in greater depth with you:

  • Indirect, porcelain veneers are irreversible. A small amount of natural tooth enamel must be removed to accommodate the thickness of the veneer that is placed and bonded on the prepared tooth surface.
  • Veneers are a cosmetic treatment. They are appropriate for patients with otherwise healthy teeth and gums who wish to close a gap, fix chips, cover up stubborn discolouration, add height to a worn tooth, or recontour irregularly shaped teeth.
  • Patients with existing dental decay or periodontal disease must have these conditions resolved first. In these cases, treatments to restore the health and functionality of a tooth may be suitable; for instance, we may recommend tooth-coloured fillings, inlays and onlays, or full-coverage porcelain crowns.
  • Enamel is stronger than skeletal bone, and it can be chipped or fractured due to conditions such as bruxism (teeth-grinding). If you are a bruxer, we encourage you to get a custom mouthguard to protect the veneers from damage. Likewise, we urge patients to refrain from other behaviours that can shorten the lifespan of the veneers – such as opening packages with your teeth or chewing ice.
